Introduction

Creation of software for the calculation of the critical heat flux in 1D laminar and turbulent flow

Critical heat flux is an important criterium in dimensioning nuclear devices. Beyond this critical value, the heat flux causes burnout of the walls, which can lead to melting of cooling channels. We are interested in knowing everywhere the margin to this critical value for the safety analysis of our cooled devices. Complicated multifield models exist but you'll be limited to the use of qualified correlations in this subject.

Objective

Creation of software for the calculation of:

• Thermal profile in in-pile sections type BR2 or CALLISTO;
• Critical thermal flux, DNBR;
• Pressure profile (manometric curve);
• Materials- en  thermal properties- dependant of temperature and pressure. Call of MATERIAL PROPERTIES.DLL;
• Call of CORRELATIONS.DLL for the heat transfer correlations;
• Call of HYDRAULICS.DLL for the pressure drop calculations;
• Creation of an HTML handbook.
