During an internship, you spend a certain period of time at the laboratories of SCK•CEN in Mol, under supervision of an SCK•CEN expert. This mentor is responsible for you during the entire period of your visit and guides you with for example the experiments you will perform at our laboratories. At the end of your stay an evaluation is made, however, no thesis is written. In case you want to conclude your scientific work with a dissertation or thesis, please visit the section “Bachelor and Master thesis”.

How to apply for an internship?

A list with available topics for internships is continuously updated on this website. Applications should be submitted using the “apply here” button that is foreseen at the bottom of each topic description. If you cannot find a topic of your interest in the list, please contact the SCK•CEN Academy. We might be able to develop a topic tailored to your specific interest.

Please note that your application will only be considered when we have received all necessary information via our web-based application system. Applications should be submitted using the “apply here” button that is foreseen at the bottom of each topic description.

Approval of your request will be subject to the evaluation of your application file by the SCK•CEN Academy, and the availability of our experts and laboratories during the internship period you have indicated. You will be informed about the status of your application via e-mail.

Although most topics are focusing on nuclear science and technology, interns with other backgrounds or qualifications can also find thesis topics under, for example, the themes “ICT” or “Office management, economics and law”.

In case of questions, please contact the SCK•CEN Academy and always mention the ID number of the topic in your communication.
